Maya Sharma is an Executive Editor for New Delhi Television (NDTV). She has an experience of about 30 years has a journalist - as anchor reporter and documentary film maker.

She was graduated with a BSc in 1984. In those days, the college offered very less courses. Therefore, she had to choose for science, though she was very keen to pursue media field. The various teams of the institute ensured that students were kept very busy at times. A sincere faculty ensured that they never hesitated in submitting their assignments on time. Maya Sharma says that only negative aspect at MCC was that instructors didn’t do much to encourage creativity things. They were expected to strictly bear the guidelines set out in the textbooks. At that time, she had returned to India after a very long time to stay in UK and Zambia, and MCC helped her to adjust to India.”

Maya has reported on gender issues, crime, civic issues, business, sports and environmental issues - with a special focus on wildlife and animal welfare - an issue very dear to her heart.

As an anchor, Maya has presented live national news bulletins and also discussion shows with audiences, including a weekly show, Agenda, on issues facing Bengaluru and Karnataka. She has also anchored, directed and produced several documentaries. The subjects include the then new call-centre phenomenon in Bengaluru, child adoption, illegal mining in Ballari, environmental issues and an award-winning feature on the transformation of Bengaluru.
